Believe it or not, this is my 1st Anniversary! We did our anniversary trip to Sydney during easter holidays and we had our anniversary dinner last Saturday at Meet & Wine Co.

The restaurant well known for its delicious steak is always crowded with meat lovers. Some say you need to make a booking 2 weeks in advance (which I did) in order to get a table there. The setting of the restaurant is quite nice but sadly it’s a bit noisy with the crowd.

We arrived slightly early and were asked to wait upstairs at their bar lounge for our table to be set. About 10minutes later a waitress came up holding a white board with my handsome name on it. We were seated at table #52 at ground floor, I want to seat 1st floor!! :-(

Rachel ordered a rack of pork rib and I ordered 500g Wagyu rum (there’s no other serving size!!). We ordered a couple of 05′ Cockfighter Cabernet Sauvignon to taste with our meal. It took them around 15mins to serve us our food. That was very efficient considering the amount of customers they have currently in a queue upstairs.

500g Wagyu rum

500g Wagyu rum & chips with BBQ relish sauce at side

I can’t wait to taste it because I had such a high expectation on wagyu since it’s my first time meeting her! Without hesitation I gave her my first kiss (yes, in front of rach). Ohhhhh.. Awwwhh… The juicy wagyu quickly flow out in my mouth, like popping a cherry, so fresh inside… slurrrp.

Rach & her pork rib

Rach & her rack (LOL)

At the same time, Rach tasted her pork ribs and she was very happy with it. I personally thinks that the beef rib I ate in Pancake on the rocks was better, but it’s still good! The waitress provided her with a bowl of lemon-flavoured water to wash her filthy hands after eating the ribs.

Oh ya, the Cockfighter wine was good too! Perfect warming up our body for the cold weather outside. On the side the chips were fresh and cripsy even after a long time sitting there waiting to be eaten. The only thing I regret that night is ordered the BBQ relish sauce, it doesn’t goes well with the steak.

All and all, the restaurant lives up to its fame. I’m very satisfied with the food and services there. Thumbs and toes up!

Lastly, Happy Anniversary baby!

p/s: After the meal I felt like throwing up due to the excess intake of meat…

My last weekend was fun too. Rach & I decided to go to the beach and have a walk in the city. This is why I prefer living in the suburbs, it makes life more interesting, rather than staying in the city everyday and get bored of it so quickly.

It took us abit more than half an hour to reach Elwood. Once we arrived we noticed a lot of big and pretty houses along the beach, I’ll dream of getting one soon, haha.

The weather that day was fine and windy. The wind was so strong that it blew my hair like a 500hp hair dryer.

After staying in Melbourne for some time, I feel that the food there are nicer compared to Malaysia. Of course I’m comparing overall, not specifically Malaysian food.

Chinese food, Indian food, Korean food, Japanese food, Italian food, Greek food, etc.. I think many small restaurant in Melbourne can easily beat most of the medium priced restaurant here in Malaysia. The food is fresher there, price is adequate, portion is larger, cooking oil is cleaner and in better quality, and most importantly, the chefs in the kitchen are “original” from their country.

Maybe I’m being too picky, and I think it’s because I worked as a seu chef before. I always think those chicken, pork, lamb chop and steak are all overpriced here in Malaysia. I can easily serve better dish than that…. Uhh.. maybe it’s the local trend of food. Chicken chop here is really nothing and lamb chops are cut throats. No meat 1!!!

Arhh now I’m hungry. Speaking of food reminds me of lunch. Crapz..

1 and a half week ago I went up to Mt. Dandenong with Rachel. She was so nice to organize a trip for me after my hectic exams and to celebrate my completion of the degree. Thanks babe!!

So on this Sunday a week ago, we took a tram to Thrifty to collect our rental car. They hand us a Toyota Accent! even bigger than the originally booked Mitsubishi Lancer. Cool!

Off we go, again with the aid of my marvelous integrated GPS in my Dopod D810, we able to reach on top of Mt. Dandenong in 40 minutes only. Hassle free without even flipping the pages of Melbourne’s map directories.

Our first visit of the day is Miss Marple’s Cottage!! The English cottage is easily spotted by the road. We parked and off we went inside.
